Dear Tauernhof Friends,
Greetings from cold and snowy Austria. At the moment we really experience winter-wonderland - a clear reminder of God’s creative and powerful Spirit.
And even more exciting is to see hearts drawn to God as the message of Christ is proclaimed. We are truly thankful for the ministry God has entrusted to us here at Tauernhof.
I just had to fill in a questionnaire for a Christian magazine. One of the 14 questions was: “If you would meet Jesus today face to face, what would be your first question?” Well, I’d ask him: “Why have so many people (including those who call themselves Christians) so little thirst and hunger for the living God?” I become increasingly aware of the fact that not everybody can come to Jesus. Because he himself said in Joh.7:37: “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.” The precondition that someone can come to Jesus is that he has a thirst, a longing to be with him.
One question I have for me personally as well as for our ministry at Tauernhof is: “What can I (we) do so that people start to hunger and thirst for God?” A restaurant-keeper knows how to make his customers thirsty – just put enough salt into the food. If he does, the customer will get more thirst and order another drink. Well, Jesus said about you and me that we are the SALT OF THIS WORLD. Other people should get an appetite for God by simply watching the way you and I live in a love-relationship with our Lord and Savior. It is challenging to think about this.
In the Psalms says Asaph: Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you! (Ps.73:25)
Your's Hans Peter
